The shiny Objects

Shiny Objects

why the shiny objects hold you back?
All to often we are trying to get some where, and there's shiny object in our way. This shiny object can be a number of things. If your not happy with your job the next shiny object could be the lure of higher pay at a new company  or perhaps a new position. This not all ways the right choice to make, many times this is the wrong choice, and we have had it happen at least once.

In online marketing this happens all the time where we find a new offer or the next shiny thing, most of the time this slows us down from what are doing or what we could do. But every time this shiny object slows down our success that might have been forth coming. All to often, this is just  keeps us from our focus on the task at hand. We tell ourselves that we are going to stay on track, then ooh whats that? the next shiny object. How do we keep away from this Mentality? one way is to not to sign up for anything new unless it's going to help us get ahead. Delete your emails, yes I said DELETE your emails now stop checking them every few minutes, stay off you social sites that you have. After all do you see C E O's in coffee shops all day? chances are you don't.

Small business owners are at their jobs, sometimes for12 - 16 hours per day, this is the mindset you need to build for your self. For the first 6 month to a year you need to learn some new skills that you may need, but keep in mind that there are going to be times when you will need to learn more skills.
Once you understand this then it will become easier to focus on your tasks that you need to complete.
Where I live there are many contractors, you will see them in the coffee shops till around 9 am then they are gone and sometimes you may see them again at 4-6 pm. when you see them often they have finished the contract or they are working close by.

So to make this simpler, start setting a time for you project and stick to it for the allowed time. This will speed up you production a lot and of course get much more done. It may take a while to set up a schedule and stick to it but once you have it in place you will be happy you did. keep in mind in every schedule there are (what I call bombs) they are the untimely things that happen when you're busy. If you are a mom working at home then you know that one of the kids comes crying because they fell and you have to care for them. But this is good (inconvenient but good) it takes your mind off what your doing. It gives you few minutes to rethink or re-read what you already did. Sometimes this will give you the time to correct mistakes and to change somethings that you might have missed.

These bombs can screw up your day as well, they have a way of distracting you when you are in the most productive. So how do you keep this from happening? there really is no way to stop them but there is a way you can limit them. If you know that there is a potential for this to happen then deal with it first if you can. A few minutes in the morning or when you are about to start, make any calls that you might have to make so now they are done (keep them short). Some phone calls have a way of dragging on and on, try to keep them 5 minutes or less if possible. As for you children there is now time limit all you can do is get them interested in something that will keep them busy for some time.

Set aside time when you have finished any house hold chores, many people are busy with their lives and can't find the time. If this is you make the time, make time for your family as well as your own time. Remember that you are working to a goal that will allow you the freedom to have more time later. Being a single parent can be stress full and you don't have much time to juggle a job and home life. You can always try to log your daily activities, this way you can find where you could get more time from tasks. You can set aside the things that can be done later and set them up on a schedule (like a day planner) for later in the week.
When I was a kid, all the dusting was done on Saturday for Sunday, sometimes it took most of the day till it was done.

With the electronic age, we don't take the time to do things on the weekend, as we are busy during the week so we do things asap this way they are done.
